Harlow MP Chris Vince visits Beckmead Moundwood Academy and praises ambitious local students

Chris Vince, Member of Parliament for Harlow and a member of the Education Select Committee, recently visited Beckmead Moundwood Academy to see firsthand how the school supports its pupils and their aspirations for the future.

During the visit, Mr Vince met with the school’s leadership team and toured the school, including the primary provision, cooking room, and art and science facilities, as well as a range of core and foundation subject lessons.

He observed the school’s broad curriculum and extensive enrichment programme in action, which enables students to develop key skills both inside and outside the classroom. Mr Vince also spoke with students and staff, hearing directly about their positive experiences at the school.

A highlight of the visit was a discussion with a group of Year 11 students, who shared their future ambitions and reflected on how the school is supporting them to progress into further and higher education, employment, and training. Students spoke about aspirations including careers in policing, social care, vocational trades, and football coaching.

The visit concluded with Mr Vince praising both the students and the school for their commitment and achievements.

Beckmead Moundwood Academy was rated Good in all areas at its most recent Ofsted inspection, marking a significant journey of improvement since joining the Beckmead Trust in 2020. The Trust is also planning to expand its provision in Harlow with the opening of Greenwell Academy in 2027, further supporting pupils with special educational needs in the local community.
