Tracey Plane, Headteacher for Sir Geoff Hurst, has successfully completed the iconic London Marathon, describing the experience as “absolutely incredible” after crossing the finish line and officially joining the “1% Club” of marathon finishers.

The 26.2-mile challenge was not only a test of physical endurance, but also a celebration of determination, resilience, and community spirit. Reflecting on the event, she shared how the day was filled with smiles, dancing, and unforgettable moments from start to finish.

The energy in London was electric. From the roar of the crowds to the shared determination of thousands of runners supporting life-changing charities—it was a powerful reminder of what humans can achieve when we pull together.

Throughout the marathon journey, several important lessons stood out:

  • Mindset is Everything  – When your legs want to quit at mile 20, your brain has to take the wheel.
  • Community power matters – The atmosphere wasn't just background noise; it was fuel. The encouragement from supporters and strangers along the route provided incredible motivation.
  • Growth happens outside your comfort zone – taking on a daunting challenge can lead to personal growth and unforgettable experiences.

She also encouraged others to embrace new opportunities and challenge themselves:

If you’ve been thinking about trying something new, pushing a personal boundary, or tackling a goal you’ve always put off — go for it. You don’t have to run a marathon; you just have to start.”

A huge thank you was also shared with everyone who supported the journey, as well as the many charities and volunteers who helped make the event so special.

Congratulations on this fantastic achievement — and we look forward to seeing what challenge comes next!
