There’s a lot to be excited about at Wells Park—here’s the quick roundup for families and friends.
Residential expansion
Subject to statutory approvals and commissioning, we plan to add 11 new residential beds by September 2026. This will help us meet increasing need while keeping our small-group, high-care ethos at the centre of everything we do.
Skills 4 Life, everywhere
Our Skills 4 Life badges—Explorer, Independence, Health, Leadership, Belonging, Safety—now run across the school with physical and digital Badge Books so pupils can see their progress at a glance.
Ready • Steady • Go curriculum
Clear stages guide every learner:
-
Ready: routines and access to learning
-
Steady: breadth, practice and application
-
Go: preparing for onward provision and independence
Cycling & Bikeability
We’re growing cycling as a life skill: balance bikes for younger pupils, Bikeability for safety and confidence, fleet servicing, plus care-led sessions at Redbridge Cycling Centre and guided MTB trails in Hainault Forest.
Swimming pathway
From confidence groups to stretch: targeted coaching locally, and opportunities for our strongest swimmers to train at the London Aquatics Centre.
Arts & Music
On track for Artsmark Bronze and expanding music enrichment—expect plenty of rhythm, confidence, and informal sharings across the year.
Farm & forest learning
A new six-lesson seasonal sequence blends bushcraft, animal care (our goats and sheep!), and woodland learning—with indoor alternatives so nothing is weather-dependent.
Essex Hub partnerships
Through our local school partnership we’re sharing facilities, training and resources—bringing extra opportunities into Wells Park at no extra cost to families.
Community Garden (HCRG grant-supported) with 3Food4U
We’re creating a shared green space for pupils and the wider community, funded by a grant from HCRG and delivered by Wells Park in partnership with 3Food4U. Expect raised beds, a refreshed polytunnel, produce for school meals, and regular family-friendly volunteer days.
