IAN MIKARDO HIGH SCHOOL
Significant Change Consultation for Adding a Satellite Provision to Ian Mikardo School (28 Apr 2025)
This consultation aimed to gather feedback on three key proposals:
-
The establishment of a new satellite site of Ian Mikardo School, currently in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, co-located with Nelson Primary School, and
-
The extension of age range at Ian Mikardo School to include Key Stage 2 pupils (years 5 and 6), within the satellite provision, and
-
The use of the satellite as provision for children who were due to attend London River Academy while that school’s permanent building is completed. The consultation sought to understand stakeholder perspectives, address potential concerns, and assess overall support for these initiatives.
Thank you for your feedback! The consultation period for this significant change ran from April 30, 2025 to June 11, 2025 and is now complete. WELLS PARK SCHOOL
Significant Change Consultation for Increasing Pupil Capacity at Wells Park School (22 Apr 2025)
This consultation aimed to gather feedback on the proposal to increase pupil capacity at Wells Park School, a specialist residential provision which serves children aged 5 – 11 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school is currently over-subscribed, and the proposed expansion would raise its capacity from 56 to 70 pupils, including an increase in residential places from 40 to 51. This increase in residential places reflects the continued need for safe, nurturing, and structured residential support for some of the most vulnerable children in Essex. The proposed change, supported by the LA, also responds to a growing demand for SEMH provision in Essex, and aims to reduce reliance on out-of-county placements by expanding access to high-quality local services.
Thank you for your feedback! The consultation for this significant change ran from April 28, 2025 to May 19, 2025. You can view the results of the consultation here: [link to Wells Park report]. We await a decision by the Department for Education on the outcome of the application."
