The Beckmead Trust has partnered with EAQ Grass Roots

EAQ Grass Roots is an Equine Assisted Learning Centre on theGRASSROOTS-Recovered.jpgSurrey/Sussex/Kent border. They have two sites with horses, a donkey, a mule, sheep, dogs, chickens and a variety of outdoor spaces for learners to explore, investigate and learn in.

Qualified facilitators provide alternative education sessions for children and young people who:

  •  Are not in full time mainstream education
  •  Will benefit from a different approach to learning
  •  Just need a different style of support

A tailored learning programme is developed for each individual based on their aims and
objectives. This learning process is different to school based learning because it is not
led by tasks set and assessed. Activities are set up to give learners the opportunity to
have experiences that enhance learning, self-awareness and energy level regulation.
EAQ Grass Roots adopt a person-centred facilitation style, champion experiential
learning and use specialist communication techniques to empower individuals to start
making choices and expressing preferences, to come to their own realisations about
how to ask for what they need and how to manage different scenarios and stimuli.
