Job Overview 

Beckmead Moundwood Academy is an Alternative Provision in Harlow . As part of the Beckmead Trust, our ethos involves close collaboration with Essex County Council, specialist and mainstream schools, outside specialist agencies with enhanced knowledge our children’s needs and the, voluntary and charity sectors within the communities in which we work.

We are seeking like-minded professionals to join our successful Trust. We are looking for people with an innovative, flexible and nurturing approach to supporting children to maximise their wellbeing and future life chances. We are recruiting staff who can teach a range of subjects across Key Stages 2, 3 & 4 and would welcome applications from those that are able lead core subjects across the school.

Following the successful de-amalgamation of The Beckmead Family of Schools into Beckmead College, Beckmead Park Academy and Chaffinch Brook, The Beckmead Trust is seeking to appoint 3 outstanding professionals to be the Head Teacher for the new Croydon Schools.

Beckmead College

Beckmead College based across two campus in South Norwood is for children and young people identified as having Social, Emotional and Mental Health issues (SEMH). There are 100 places for KS4 and KS5 students.

Beckmead Park Academy

123 places in KS1-4 are based across four sites in Croydon. Pupils are identified via their EHCP’s with SEMH, and associated difficulties.

Chaffinch Brook

90 places in KS1-4 across two sites in Croydon for pupils identified with Autism and Challenging Behaviour.

Beckmead Moundwood Academy

Formerly Aspire, Beckmead Moundwood Academy joined The Beckmead Trust through a sponsored academisation process in May 2020. We are seeking to recruit a Head Teacher for this 89 place KS2-4 Alternative Provision.

Job Overview 

The Head Teachers will ideally be in post from September 2021 and will lead family and pupil engagement, establish networks with agencies involved with the pupils, continue and develop partnerships with the Local Authority, and, with the support of The Beckmead Trust, manage recruitment, agree budgets and stock the school with the appropriate curriculum and resources.

The schools within The Beckmead Trust place nurture, play, empathy and love at the heart of everything they do. We define nurture as ‘caring for the children deeply enough to enact non-punitive boundaries irrespective of how difficult this may be’. Everyone within the Beckmead Family is expected to work, communicate and behave in a therapeutic way and to model high expectations at all times.

As the Head Teacher of our school you will be expected to value and look after all members of the school community spending time in and around the classrooms every day. You will model outstanding, child centred care and pedagogy, have sky-high expectations of the children, your colleagues and yourself and be a fluent, experienced practitioner in the field of challenging behaviour.

The Ropemakers’ Academy in Hailsham is a newly constructed special school that is being purpose built for 80 pupils from 4 – 16 years old. It will offer full time support to children who have social, emotional and mental health needs as well as some pupils with ASD who may present with challenging behavior as a result of their needs.

Grade Range: Brent Schools 7-11 £22,995- £24693  depending on experience  

Hours: 36 hours per week All Year Round, Split Shifts 7-9am  and  5 -9pm Tues, Wed, Thursday, 7am – 2pm Mon and Friday, Saturday hours TBC 

During term time with flexibility in the school holidays to accommodate Community Centre use.
